Handwritten Personalization Guidelines/FAQs

Please always double check the spelling, capitalizations, spacing and any other pertinent details on your personalization request - we will personalize your item exactly as you request. Feel free to add additional details to the request if you feel clarification may be needed. We will generally personalize your item in the area shown in a listing sample photo unless given your request we feel it will work better elsewhere. If you have no personalization request entered, we will assume you would like your ornament as is.

No, please ADD the year and any handwritten elements you see in the listings to your personalization if you’d like it added. If you would like your personalization “like the sample,” please feel free to add that. We never assume you would like something added unless requested.

We can fit almost any name, however, please keep in mind the longer the name the smaller/finer the lettering will be. If there is a shortened name that makes sense to use it will generally look better and be appropriately less formal for a sentimental ornament (we suggest using Bella, rather than Isabella, if that is what she goes by).

Please see examples of our personalization throughout our ornament listings. We have a few personalizers in our workshop, but we all share a similar style using both upper-and lower-case lettering. We will use black or white paint pen based on the ornament color – if you prefer one or the other, please specify when ordering and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

When writing a plural name, you do NOT need an apostrophe. Most of the time, simply adding an “S” is the correct way to write a family name (“The Andersons”). However, if the last name ends in s, sh, ch, x or z, the correct way to pluralize is to add an “es” (for Jones, the “Joneses” would be correct). If this seems odd, you might prefer to use “The Jones Family” instead.

We suggest using “Our Family,” “Christmas 2024,” “Happy Holidays,” etc. If you are unsure of the last name or if there are multiple names in a family.

A Note Regarding Handmade Custom Items...

Please know that while we make every effort to photograph our items accurately, actual color may differ slightly from our website photos due to different monitor settings. Every item is also handcrafted and therefore may show slight differences in finish and appearance; each piece of wood is also unique and may include knots or other variations. We think this is part of the charm of a handcrafted piece and hope you do too! We are happy to address any questions about the characteristics of any item before purchasing, so please don’t hesitate to reach out.
